WHY CHOOSE SONGTIME THEATRE ARTS?

Songtime Theatre Arts is a professional company training young people in a theatrical environment that leads the way in the entertainments industry.

We are interested in only those young people who wish to pursue a career somewhere in the entertainment industry and through the professional staff enlisted to share their knowledge will benefit in aiming high for a very tough disciplined career.

At Songtime we take the training very seriously. We do not encourage people to join our company for a fun night out, nor do we allow our company to be used as a babysitting service. We expect those members selected to be part of the company to work hard and dedicate their time with us to gain the full potential that can be achieved by a committed future professional.

Our principal Matthew Chandler offers a limited number of Scholarship places each year.

WHEN SELECTING A THEATRE SCHOOL, WHAT SHOULD I ASK?

If you are serious about your child's training then it is of the utmost importance that you ask several questions before you commit to something as complex as theatrical training.

The key questions to ask include:

  • How long has the company been established?
  • What experience do the teaching faculty have?
  • What is the success rate of past pupils?
  • Is the welfare of the pupil taken care of?

  • WHEN DO I REHEARSE AND WHAT SHOW AM I IN?

When you join Songtime you will choose the nearest training centre to where you live, this will be your original base. You will attend the rehearsals every week as stated in the monthly schedule that will be given to you after the initial workshops and casting of the current production.

The rehearsals will always be held on the same night for the training school you attend. We may add extra rehearsals nearer to the production, but this will always be announced in a schedule. The usual times for rehearsals are 5.30-7.30 for groups up to 12 years old and 13 years old and above meet from 7.30-9.30. This will vary once casting has taken place and times may change (although they always stay within the 5.30-9.30 times).

If you wish to attend other Songtime training centres and perform in more than one production, you may do this (at no extra cost).

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE FIRST SHOW?

You have now been selected as a member of Songtime and no further audition to be part of the school will be necessary. During the course of the first production we will carefully select the next production around the talent we have within the company.
